November is National Vegetarian Month, right?

Reginald is a very fine Gentleman.
He also thinks that people should eat more vegetables and less meat, especially in November (and all year actually)!

I had a lot of fun making this one.  He developed a personality while we worked.

My supplies included the main ingredient of the Foundations Decor Turkey and sanding board, Dixie Belle Paints and brush, papers, feathers, gilding, duo glue, Aleenes Tacky glue, Dew Drops and Dew Drop glue dots, assorted accent paints AND the wonderful chicken wire. Couldn't do it without my Kai scissors!

I started by lightly sanding the edges (they really did not need it, however).  Then I applied paint to the back and sides.

Now for cutting the paper, I devised a special trick for getting into tiny places to trace the pattern.   You will sand the paper edges, but this helps too.  I took my mechanical pencil and emptied some lead, then I gently used the bare lead to trace the pattern.  (I used one sheet of 12 x 12 double side paper)

Now for Mr. Fancy Pants...
I cut the paper and glued it onto the base, then painted the hat, using gilding for the buckle (with DUO glue).  I added feathers when I glued the buckle into place.

The finishing touch was his eyes (Dew Drops) and gluing the chicken wire into place. I lightly touched the entire back of the wire with E600 to hold it tight.

I hope his quirky personality shows for you.
Please see the links for the products used below and remember that Foundations Decor is 10% off in September!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
