Lost Coast Designs THICK & THIN!

Thick and Thin a stamp by Lost Coast Designs which has been in my crafting stash for a few years  is perfect for a male themed card or project.  Today I am sharing a stamped and layered paper card design.

I started by pulling out a host of products available from Altered Pages which included this stamp.

I love working with a more neutral palette when creating with a male in mind.  The Durable and Devotion Paper Pads from Authentique are perfect to go with my kraft card scalloped edge base.

The front of this card base design exposes some of the back inside of the card, so I chose to work with this to add some further interest to my layers.  I took a piece of embossed black cardstock and stuck this across the bottom of the back inside.  A white card insert to write my message will be layered over this when I go to use the card.

Now turning my attention back to the front of my card I cut my papers to size and inked the edges of them ready to layer and stick down.

I chose to add a white middle layer for contrast and to pop the design of the underneath layer as well as combine with the white edge I left around my stamped image when I had cut it out.

I have yet to decide on a sentiment for this card yet, but have Father's Day in mind as it's only a little over month away now here in Australia with it being celebrated on the 1st Sunday of September.

After sticking down the layers I decided to add a touch of color to my stamped image using my Niji Pearlescent Water Color Paints and a Water Brush.

Later I plan to use my paper offcuts will combine as a background for a kraft tag which can be used for a gift to go with this card or on its own.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
